Cannot play own music on Sonos or Chromecast

Cannot play own music on Sonos or Chromecast

I cannot play my own music (local files) on Sonos or on Chromecast. So, what is the point of adding my own music? I don't want to listen to my music on my laptop speakers. Is something broken?

Hi @337758453,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

What you mention is actually expected, this is because external devices such as Chromecast, Sonos or Connect enabled speakers need to stream music directly from Spotify's servers and aren't able to do it from your mobile or PC where the local files are stored.

In this case, we can recommend connecting to the speakers using Bluetooth if you want to play local files.
