Liked Songs Playlist Issues

Liked Songs Playlist Issues

I have over 11,000 liked songs - but Spotify won't show me them all!

The app is only showing me the first 100 or so. I see different songs depending on how the playlist is sorted, but it never lets me scroll past around 100 tracks. I also cannot search within the playlist.

These issues have only started in the last week or so, and do not affect any other playlists.

I have tried a clean reinstall but this has not helped.

Hey there @eoinsmith,

Thanks for posting within the Community and welcome.

In this case, we'd like to add some insights. Keep in mind that there's a limit of 10,000 songs per playlist, and from what you kindly mentioned your Liked Songs playlist surpasses that limit. In that sense, it's expected the app's performance could be affected as this is one of its limitations.

We'd suggest you try and use a different device, such as a computer with a desktop app, so you can reduce your Liked Songs playlist by creating smaller playlists. We understand where you're coming from, and we really appreciate the time you took to let us know about this.

We'd also recommend you make sure:

  • You're always running the latest version of the app.
  • Your device OS is up-to-date.
  • Your device has enough storage.

Hope this clears things up. If you have any questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.

Hi @AlejaR

Thanks for your reply. The issue has only been happening for the last week or so - but I have had more than 10,000 liked songs for far longer than this. So it seems strange that if this is the reason for the issue that it just suddenly started.

My understanding was that Spotify uses liked songs to help recommend new music. So by removing songs from this to other playlists, will I not be "untraining" the algorithm as to what I enjoy listening to?

Hey there @eoinsmith,

Thanks for your reply.

As you use Spotify to listen to content, actions such as using the search option, listening, skipping, or saving to Your Library (both to your Liked Songs and other playlists you've created) influence your listening activity. We call this your “taste profile,” and it gives the algorithm enough feedback on what you're interested in and how you like to listen to.

In that sense, not only adding songs to your Liked Songs playlist influences what is recommended to you. If you listen to a certain artist, you might see more songs by that artist. Or if you listen to a book recommendation podcast, you might encounter other shows along those lines. As mentioned, all those actions influence your recommendations.

So, to answer your question, adding/removing some songs from your Liked Songs is one of the several ways that influence your recommendations. Make sure to add the content to other playlists. That way you'll continue seeing relevant content you might like.

If anything else comes up, the Community will always be here for you.
