Hello,
I have a new Vizio E-Series TV with SmartCast. Spotify will play though the TV's built in speakers but NOT through the analog audio output. All the other apps I have tried work fine (netflix, hbo now, google play). Does anyone have a solution?
If this problem persists I am cancelling spotify.
Hey @pbjames23,
Thanks for reaching out to us for help!
Could you check if your TV has any Firmware updates available? Also, where are you currently located?
We'll see what we can suggest,
Hello,
I have the exact same issue with my Vizio p-series where the spotify will play through TV's internal speakers instead of my external speakers through the RCA to 3.5mm cable from the tv. My Xbox, other smartcast apps such as netflix and youtube both work fine. Please advice
I just bought a new E-series (2016 version) and the same thing happens to me. I called Vizio and they say it isn't a hardware issue, that it must be a problem with the way Spotify encodes and/or compresses the data in its app, because it doesn't happen with any other music or video app. I've tested this with multiple apps on both android and iOs devices. I even reinstalled Spotify and the problem continues. All of the Spotify data reaches the display, including the play list and the progress bar, but the sound will only process through the on-board speakers, not through the audio-out jacks.
This is interesting. I will run a test to see if my Chrome pages also fail to output analog audio and I will amend my submitted case with Chrome and Vizio. Personally, I think the issue lies with the Vizio processor, but that's just my hunch.
You need to make sure you communicate all this to Vizio. Their tech support basically told me it wasn't their fault because other apps worked to produce analog out, so their jack works. If that isn't consistent, the problem lies likely with Vizio and their device's processor, but possibly with the version of Chromecast that's been contracted into that system.
Me too. Having exact same issue. Can't play music over my good computer speakers that are connected to it 😕
I have an active thread going with a support agent in the Google Chromecast community. They are looking into why this is happening on all displays in the series and with multiple apps. Vizio does not seem interested since their jacks work on some apps, it means their jack work at all.
The thread at the Google Community is here:
Anyone who is still having trouble this seems to have been fixed with an update. I'm guessing the hardware in the Vizio TVs is similar to the Chromecast Ultra, as everything started to work fine once the Chomecast Ultra was announced.
Found the issue was resolved after a GoogleCast update.
To force the Vizio display to update, click the link button on the Vizio remote twice to start a new pairing; start the Viziocast app and set up a new device without deleting the old one. Go through the process of pairing the display but without changing any setings. The new update will get applied and everything will go back to normal.
Just got a brand new 65" P Series (firmware updated) and I got some new Sennheiser headphones that connect to a dock wirelessly which uses the digital audio connection. Watching cable on hdmi 5 works fine but Netflix via smartcast does not.
