No sound on Chromebook

I just signed up for Premium today, and I cannot get any sound from the web player on my HP Chromebook.  I can select a song and the seconds start ticking away, but no sound comes out.  I spent half an hour on chat with Spotify Help, and I got nowhere.  Yes, my volume is up.  YouTube sounds fine on the Chromebook.  Yes, the new Spotify account works.  It sounds fine when I log into the web player from Firefox on my desktop computer.  No, I cannot download the Spotify Android app on my Chromebook.  Yes, my Chromebook is up-to-date and I added [*.]spotify.com to my plugin access.  I'm now well over an hour into this rabbit hole, and I'm thinking I may have to cancel my subscription if I can't use Spotify on the Chromebook.  Any suggestions?
