Pixel Watch 3 - Strength Workout Audio Cues Bug

Pixel Watch 3 - Strength Workout Audio Cues Bug

Good morning,

I encountered a bug during my strength workout this morning while using my Pixel Watch 3. Here's the setup:

Music: Spotify from Pixel Watch 3, playing from my Pixel 9 Pro Fold (phone icon displayed on watch)

Workout: Fitbit "Strength" with heart rate change audio cues enabled

Headphones: Pixel Buds Pro 2 connected to both watch and phone

Issue:

Whenever an audio cue was triggered, the music would pause indefinitely. The cue would either not play at all or play after a significant delay.  Music playback would not resume automatically, requiring manual unpausing.

Troubleshooting:

Playing music directly from the watch resolved the issue. Audio cues and music playback functioned correctly without interference.

Switching back to playing music from the phone (controlling from the watch) caused the issue to reappear.

Tested with YT Music (playback only possible from the watch) and experienced no issues.

Conclusion:

There appears to be a bug when playing music from the phone and controlling it from the watch, causing audio cues to disrupt music playback.

Please investigate and provide feedback.

Thank you.

Hey @SGT_T,

Sorry to see you've been experiencing playback issues with your watch!

Try removing the app's cached data to see if that would make a difference.
In case the issue persists, see if un-pairing and re-pairing the watch would help.
Should it not, try removing the Spotify app from the watch and installing it one more time.

Many thanks! We'll be on the lookout for your reply 🙂
