Sonos and Spotify playlists: Shuffle only working with one specific alphabet letter

Sonos and Spotify playlists: Shuffle only working with one specific alphabet letter

Plan: Premium

Country: US

Device: Motorola MotoG5 (Vanilla Android) + Sonos Connect (fully updated)

Operating System: Android (fully updated)

I have a large-ish (2.5k+ songs) Playlist I pretty much listen to all the time. When trying to play it through my Sonos Connect, Spotify's behavior is unique to this device (there are other bugs when using Alex, I'll post another thread with all of them): the songs being played are restricted to one or two letters.

For example: on said Playlist I have songs by Artists with a first digit from virtually all letters of the alphabet and a few numbers.

But when selecting my Sonos Connect, and requesting to Shuffle the playlist, Spotify ONLY PLAYS Alice in Chains, Alestorm, and 3 Inches of Blood.

I tried replicating this behavior with a small Playlist (100 songs) and it didn't happen.

I tried replicating this behavior by selecting a random song in the large Playlist: sometimes it reverts to artists starting with A, or plays songs by artists with the selected frst song's first letter only.

This is a terrible experience: I build large Playlist for a reason! I tried my Sonos for the first time today and it was frustrating while it should have been enjoyable.

Support to fix this bug would be appreciated. Please let me know if you need any more information from me.

(I have not-yet let Sonos know about this issue)

Hello! I think this is most likely a glitch in the system, not your device. Maybe try to log out and log back in or uninstall and reinstall. If that doesn't work, the system might not be used to such a large playlist. I would suggest not putting it on shuffle if you would like to continue using the large playlist. Once again, it could just be a glitch that needs patched.

I hope this helps!
