Hey folks,

Thanks for all your help while our tech folks looked into this issue.

We’re happy to confirm that this should now be fixed for everyone. Please make sure your app is updated to the latest version. You can check for possible new version updates in the three dot menu that you can find on the left-top of your screen in the desktop app. There, select Help> About Spotify. If there’s a new version available, you’ll see a button “restart to install”.

If you're still having trouble, please send us the info we asked for previously here.

Thanks!

I use Spotify on Windows and connect through my phone to listen to and the songs stay at 0:00 and it doesn't move despite the song playing fully.

I have the same issue! Also, when I play a song from my phone, lyrics on the deskop app don't synchronize. It works in a web player.

The issue is present in deskop app on:

Device model: Lenovo laptop

OS: Windows 11

Spotify app version: Spotify Windows (64bit)
1.2.40.599.g606b7f29

I've installed some previous version and it worked, but the app uptated and the issue reappeared. The Web Player works fine.

My Question or Issue

My playlists are not staying in sync between my desktop and phone applications. If I make additions or remove songs on desktop, it does not accurately update in Android app

Hey there folks! Thanks for your collaboration in providing more info.

In the meantime, can you try some more basic steps to see if it helps on your end?

First, I suggest you try these steps since this can help you get rid of any local cache that might be causing issues on your devices. During this process, I suggest you install the Spotify app from the Microsoft Store.

If the issue persists, can you let us know if the same happens when you listen to music on the Web Player?

We'll be on the lookout.

My Question or Issue

So I could start playing a song on my Android device, which obviously starts playing on other clients. However the problem is that on my laptop, the playback is always stuck at 0:01, even though the song plays fine on the source device. And when it moves on to the next song, it's updated on the laptop, but the next song would still be stuck at 0:01.

For example, when I checked my phone, this song in the attached image was at 1:47.

I can move the seeker to, for example 1:13, and the change would update on my phone, but the seeker would just be stuck at whatever point it was moved to on the Mac, i.e 1:13 even the audio has moved on.

The web player is fine though.

I've tried reinstalling and the problem persists.

I guess this is one of the challenges with Electron, bugs just pop up randomly without me having made a conscious update, because updates happen in the background.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and the issue did not resolve.

The problem occurs on all devices that sync music with Spotify Connect. It appeared for me after updating the Windows Spotify application (64-bit) 1.2.40.599.g606b7f29

Same thing, reinstalled, cleared cache, still happening. Doesn't happen on the web player though, no idea why.

I've tried everything suggested, and only installation of the older version of the Spotify desktop app works in my case. The Web Player works.

My Question or Issue

just got a new computer that's running windows 11. i installed spotify version 1.2.40.599.g606b7f29 (64), tried both from the direct download and from the microsoft store, and am having the same issue regardless of install method. it's a fresh install on a new computer, so clearing the cache didn't do anything. spotify connect seems to be mostly working - i can pause, skip tracks, change what i'm playing, view info, etc - however the one thing that isn't working is the timestamp/timeline tracking for songs. basically it will accurately show me which track is playing, but otherwise sits at 0:00 and shows no progression on the bar through the track. weird but maybe related, the little animation that appears next to a playlist/album/etc icon to show it is currently be played is completely still. if i pause the track, either from the desktop client or from my phone, the timestamp updates to the correct time. the progression shows correctly on my phone, and on other connected apps like discord. no issue with the web player, either, seems to be something with this version of the windows program

Hello, I'm experiencing the same issue. Desktop app 1.2.40.599.g606b7f29 (MacBook Air Sonoma 14.5) doesn't seem to synchronize with Android app (8.9.50.552). The progress bar in the desktop app below doesn't work as well. Thanks

When will the hotfix finally be released!? Nothing works here: neither time synchronization, nor subtitles, which, after all, are associated with this time. Additionally, clicking the + button does not cause any reaction, apart from displaying a message such as "added to like songs".

Yes, it seems like something is wrong with the newest update, so I hope that Spotify is going to fix this or provide a patch very soon. I'd suggest checking if the problem appears on the previous desktop app version or using Web Player.

I'm experiencing an issue with the Spotify desktop application on Windows 11 (64-bit). While listening to music on my phone through a connected device, the desktop app's timebar remains stuck at 0:00. Consequently, the lyrics do not sync with the song, even though Spotify correctly identifies the track playing. I've tried reloading the app, resetting app data, and disabling GPU rendering temporarily, but none of these solutions have resolved the issue.

Could someone please assist me in resolving this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hey @Jitse_w, thanks for your post. I actually noticed an issue with the timebar similar to yours yesterday when I was listening through a Connect device using the desktop app on Windows 11 to control it. I didn't think much of it at the time, but I just double checked, and it's definitely still occurring. I notice that pausing/unpausing the track seems to force the time to catch up. I'm going to check around to see if this is a known issue!
