Spotify on Amazon Echo Dot

I have had my Amazon Echo Dot for a little over a month now, and up until a couple of weeks ago, I had no problem playing Spotify through it from my iPhone app. Now, no sound will come out and my Spotify app goes haywire skipping through songs without being told to or starting them 30s in. I have already gone through all the troubleshooting with Amazon support and nothing they said regarding troubleshooting my Dot fixed the issue and a friend with an Android phone has no problem getting Spotify to play on my Dot from his app so I'm assuming it has to do with the iOS Spotify app. I have no idea what the problem is and why my phone can't get Spotify to play through my iOS app and would appreciate any help resolving the issue.
