Spotify web player won't stream properly

Spotify web player won't stream properly

Hi Everyone,

I'm having an issues with spotify web player on all my laptops and tablets at home. As soon as i press play its like the songs don't stream properly,  it continuisly needs to "buffer". the song constantly stops for a second then starts up again... for example its like i'm pressing play then pause over and over again..  it's so bad, that spotify is unusable at this point.

I'm using Chrome as my web browser.

I can stream 1080p movies no problem and download speeds up to 3MB/s.  I dont think my internet provider is the issue here.

Thanks

DD

Hi,

Sorry to hear you're having issues. When did this issue first start happening?

Can you try out the beta player to see whether you get the same issue? It's on https://play.spotify.com/?http=1

Mark

Hello,

I have a similiar issue since begin of december.
I can logon but streaming didn't start.
https://play.spotify.com/?http=1 works fine for me.

Regards, Ansgar

Not working well for me at all. Chrome OS, latest stable update. I can get download speeds up to- get this- 80Mb/s on the device in question. My laptop does fine on the desktop client, and it only gets 40-50Mb/s. If 3Mb/s is enough for streaming, then 80Mb/s should make it easy, right? 😉

Side note: the web player needs a drag-and-drop-enabled interface. Saw a post from 2013 saying "we'll probably have that soon, still in beta" but it's been 3 years and we got nothing. Are we still in beta? ...that would explain so much...
To be honest, the web player needs to be redone from scratch. If you're not gonna do it, give me access to the servers so I can make my own interface or something. It'll take a few years to get a basic interface, but at the rate you guys are changing things, I'll have the world's best UI before you add this much-needed feature.

No, if there's a way to make a UI that uses Spotify's servers to stream music, then I'm serious. I'm a kid willing to make his own Spotify interface with HTML5, Javascript, and a Chromebook. I'm planning to learn this stuff anyways, and it would actually be a great way to develop the skills. Besides, if I leave it to the professionals, it probably won't get done.

Thank you for accepting input, if anyone actually reads any of this.

Edit: Wait, there's a beta interface? I'm gonna check that out then.

Another edit: So I think I found my issue... hehehe... I'm at the other end of the house as the router, bringing my speed down to 8Mb/s somehow (despite not having a big house, 1 meter can be the difference between 40 and 4). And it's usually very annoyingly unstable at school, and I just remembered that our school's internet can be 50Mb/s during a study hall yet it can be <null> Mb/s when you're the only one in the building. I think that's the problem... Still, it does need drag-and-drop. And I'd be willing to make my own (poorly-designed) version of the UI, if at all possible, mostly because it would be a good way to help me learn Javascript and HTML and such. (I'm still waiting [im]patiently for Chrome OS to get Android apps so I can hopefully run the desktop version on CrossOver. That would fix most of my problems with Spotify.)
