Web Player Bandwidth

I have been using the web player for about 2 years or so. Up until about 2 months ago I ran it while playing PC games because it impeded very little (really almost nothing) while streaming music (from non-locally saved playlists). Recently though, my latency because of the web player (Im 100% sure this is the cause, because before I stream music it is basically normal delay) has shot way up.

Before issue: ~120 ms ping

After issue: ~400+ ms ping

My question is: Has the data usage of the web player gone up for any reason? Is there a way I can limit the bandwidth that Spotify Web Player uses (either locally or on the web player itself)
