Hey @Zeroworld,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

That's an odd behavior since canvas should be working properly on the Web Player as well. So in this case, we'd first recommend checking if you have the option activated. Just open the Web Player, click on your Profile picture > Settings, and under the Display section, make sure that the option "Display short, looping visuals on tracks (Canvas)" is turned ON.

If so and the issue persists, would you mind trying with a different browser, such as Google Chrome to see if it makes any difference?

Hope this helps. We'll be waiting for your response.

already did that becasuse i checked previous topics and the comunnity, trying microsoft edge works fine

Hey @Zeroworld,

Thanks for the reply!

Since Canvas is working fine in a different browser, then the issue is most likely connected to some settings in your Brave browser. I did some digging and it looks like Brave requires a specific component to be installed in order to view DRM protected content, which might be what's causing this issue. What you can try is enabling Widevine as an extension to see if that makes a difference. It can be enabled or disabled at any time by toggling of the component in brave://settings/extensions (Menu → Settings → Extensions → Widevine).

You can also try clearing the browser's cache and checking for any pending updates. In case you're using a VPN and an ad-blocker, I'd also recommend turning them off to check if that helps.

Keep us posted.

Hey there @Zeroworld

Thanks for getting back to us.

Just to confirm, was it working as expected before or has it never worked on that browser?

Also, could you send us a screenshot of how Canvas looks like on your end? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert image option in the post editor. Make sure not to send any private info.

I have had the same issue for the past 4 days in the latest version of Chrome browser on the latest version of Chrome OS. I cleared the browser cache and cookies, logged out and in, rebooted laptop, no success. All Spotify canvases do not play anymore. This started happening after I switched fast from one song to another a few times, because I was looking for a specific cover of a song. I am based in US and I have the Spotify Premium subscription, so for me the expectation is that the player plays what I click on.

Also, the Spotify web player has been behaving badly for several months now. For example, another annoying bug is this. You go to an artist and want to play several of the songs of the artist. You press the green play round button near the song name for the first song (all good). After the song is finished, the player starts playing a similar song (not from the artist list that you are looking at). You start clicking on the play buttons of other songs in the artist list and the Spotify web player continues playing other songs instead of the ones you want.

Hey @musicalme,

Welcome to the thread and thanks for the details!

Could you let us know if you're unable to see canvases only in the Chrome browser or other browsers as well? It'd be very helpful if you could also let us know what other steps you've tested with and for example if you're using a VPN or any ad-blockers as suggested here. If that's the case, please disable them to see if that will make a difference.

When it comes to the playback behavior that you're experiencing with the Web Player, could you send us a few screenshots of how exactly you're starting it so we can get a better understanding?

For example, keep in mind that if you're starting playback by opening the song of the particular artist such as shown on the screenshot that you've provided and the Autoplay feature is enabled in the app, the Web Player and the app would continue to play something similar after the track finishes and not tracks by the same artist.

Something you can do in this situation is to manually add the other desired songs by the artist in your Play Queue.

Thanks and we'll be on the lookout.

Hey @Zeroworld,

Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.

We really appreciate the time you took to let us know about this behavior. We can confirm that Brave Browser is unfortunately not supported, so it's expected some Spotify features don't work as they should. You can find more info about the supported devices/browsers in this article.

In that sense, since you mentioned Canvas is working as it should on Microsoft Edge, we'd suggest you continue using that browser for now. As per Brave, we'd suggest you make sure is always up-to-date. We don't have further info on when or if this issue is going to be fixed.

Hope this clears things up. If you have any questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.

but it worked well before?

It does not work in Chrome browser on ChromeOs laptop.

It has been broken since Jan 31st.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out.

Can you confirm which Chrome version you're using? When the issue first occurred, did this coincide with an update to Chrome, ChromeOS or the Spotify app? Does the same happen in incognito as well?

Let us know how it goes.

What extensions are you using in Chrome? There's a high possibility that some extension is interfering with the Canvas. For example, I had an ad blocker installed on Edge which broke Canvas and showed nothing except black. I disabled it for spotify.com and that fixed it.
