"Where am I?" button

"Where am I?" button

When playing my (long) playlist, I need a button that positions the cursor to the song that is playing.

Preferably with a button with a Target shaped icon (convenient like the "Show Your Location" on certain map software).

I am aware that Spotify indicates the currently played song in a different colour, but that is still too time consuming to Spot, when scrolling through my 300+ playlist. Thanks!

Hi there @Mark_Little,

Welcome to the Community!

We've moved your idea submission to the help boards, as we think it fits better here.

If you're using the desktop app or our web player, you can jump to the currently playing song in your playlist by clicking on the album art in the Now Playing bar at the bottom of the app.

There's a similar function on Android where you can tap on the playlist name at the top of the Now Playing view to jump to the song that is playing.

Hope you’ll find this info useful. Let us know how you get on 🙂

Hi Xenia, sorry this is so NOT what I meant. Please put my Idea submission back.

Let me try to explain it again: I start to play my playlist of 300 songs. Then after 2 hours I'm curious where it is currently playing in my playlist. Is it song 20, or is it song 289. The only thing I can do now, is scroll, and scroll, and scroll, until I see the song indicated with the green-ish colour. THAT should be automised with an easy button that brings me straight to it. Thanks!

Hi @Mark_Little,

Thanks for getting back to us.

To clarify, it's not necessary to scroll the playlist to spot the currently playing song - you just need to click on the album artwork on the now playing bar, which is at the bottom left corner of the app. That will take you right to the position of the song that's currently playing, so you don't have to scroll. You can do this by going to any other section of the app, then clicking on the album artwork. As @Xenia mentioned previously, this can be done either in the desktop app or in the web player.

Hope this helps. If you need anything else, the Community is here for you.

@Eni,

Why does this not work for podcast episodes on the Windows desktop app? I cannot navigate to my currently playing episode in the podcast list without scrolling. This has recently become an issue - the app used to do this. Why does it no longer work?

Hi @jaclynkpage,

Thank you for your reply in this thread and for sharing your Spotify version.

Can you provide us a screen recording so that we can have a closer look directly from your end?

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Take care!
