my username changed to a keysmash

Hi! I recently received a Macbook Air through my college and was attempting to log into my Spotify. I had recently gotten a new account so that I could use the student hulu/premium bundle and everything was working fine until I tried to log in on my Mac. As I was logging in, it was telling me that my username was wrong, so I checked on my phone, where I was logged into the app, and it said that my username was a keysmash of random letters and numbers instead of the actual name I picked when signing up for the account, d.bortz. The only advice I've found is to check my Facebook sync, but because I made the account with my student email I know it's not linked to my Facebook and that can't be the issue. What should I do?
