The desktop app library management UX is extremely annoying

The new desktop UI has been out for over a year now. I gave myself lots of time to adjust to it and I have to say it's just substantially worse for managing and browsing your own library. The only way I can interact with my library is a narrow column on the left side of the app. It only shows me playlists. My folders are extremely annoying to expand/collapse because they have a tiny little arrow on the right side of the banner. If you misclick you change the panel context to only that folder, meaning you have to find the tiny back button on the top left of the app to get back to viewing your whole library. 

Why was this change even made? Why can't we browse our library using the entire app window? Why can't we view artists or albums anymore? The "Now Playing" view takes up more screen space than the panel I spend 90% of my time in when navigating the app. 

The central panel, which is clearly here to push more algorithmic listening recommendations, just pushing you back into the same artists over and over and over again. It's not organized in any kind of consistent way. It's not helpful when you had a particular artist or album in mind. 

It feels like Spotify is just trying to copy the pandora listening experience where you give an algorithm a vague sense of direction then let it take the wheel. People who want to curate a library are second class and have a terrible UX. And because you all have such little competition you can make the UI terrible and people will still use the service.

Spotify couldn't help themselves with the Now Playing panel. It can't even be hidden now, huge ugly arrow nobody needs. Insane, probably gonna end my membership soon over these constant UI tweaks that make the app worse.
