Dear Spotify Developer Support Team,
My name is Oğuzhan Dere, and I am the creator of Keddy, a music personalization application designed to provide unique, tailored listening experiences. For the past 4–5 months, I have been diligently developing this project as a solo developer, fully adhering to Spotify for Developers’ terms of use.
Keddy leverages Spotify’s Web APIs to offer advanced features such as emotion-based music recommendations, customizable filtering presets called “Vibes,” and collaborative listening sessions. These features depend heavily on access to endpoints such as track features and recommendations.
Unfortunately, I recently learned that these APIs have been deprecated for apps without extended quotas. While I understand the reasoning behind this decision—protecting Spotify’s ecosystem from unauthorized usage or security concerns—it has been a significant setback for my project, which strictly complies with your policies and terms.
I have put immense effort into building Keddy, which was also a concrete step in exploring my concept of the "singularity of art," where emotions, creativity, and technology converge. My application is designed to enhance Spotify's user experience by offering features that are not only unique but also align with Spotify’s mission of connecting users to music they love.
Given these considerations, I kindly request an exception for Keddy to regain access to the deprecated Web APIs, particularly the track features and recommendations endpoints. I assure you that Keddy’s usage of Spotify data remains fully ethical and secure, with strict adherence to your guidelines. I am willing to share my codebase with you if requested.
I believe that supporting innovative projects like Keddy reflects Spotify’s commitment to fostering creativity within its developer community. I am hopeful that you might consider this request and allow Keddy to continue providing its users with the personalized music experiences they value.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my appeal. Please let me know if you need any additional information about the project or its adherence to Spotify’s terms. I have submitted a quota extension request recently and added all the implementation details, along with screenshots of the application.
Looking forward to your response.
