Check if app is installed

Check if app is installed

Hello guys!

I'm developing a webapp(nextjs) using Spotify's API and I've been following the design guidelines but I have no idea how to check if the app is installed to show "GET SPOTIFY FREE" instead of "PLAY ON SPOTIFY". Right now I got something like in the attach (play_spotify.png), is that ok? Do I need to change? If so, how?

Thanks in advance

Best regards,
Vitor

I'd like to know the answer to this myself. I'm not aware of any officially documented method for a web app to determine whether Spotify is installed. In the absence of any guidance from Spotify, I think the best we could do would be to link to 'https://open.spotify.com', which in turn would prompt the user to install Spotify if it were not already installed.

Also tried looking into this because of the wording in the documentation you attached. I don't think it's really possible, so I just ended up using the external URL (https://open.spotify.com/...) instead of the URI. Would like to hear from Spotify also, though.

I am having this issue as well. Also how were you guys able to get the play on spotify button to open up the spotify app

Was there ever any explanation regarding this? I'm having the same questions now with my web app...
