Publishing a private podcast

Publishing a private podcast

My Question or Issue

I am wanting to publish a private podcast that contains restricted information to only people with an invitation link, and was wondering whether there is a way this can be done on Spotify. I am publishing medical information that can only be made available to healthcare professionals and not the general public.

On other platforms like Apple Podcasts or Google Podcasts, the user can add the RSS feed to their player, and are subscribed that way. Only someone with the specific RSS URL can access the channel, this provides us with the required security.

It seems that Spotify does not allow users to add an RSS feed manually, the only way of restricting content is converting the channel to a paid channel. We don't want to do this as we don't want to charge for our content, and anyway, this would not provide a restriction on access - anyone who wanted to pay for it could access it.

Is there a way of securing content, such as specific URL or password protection, on Spotify? If not, is this something that might be added in the future?

Thanks

Would love to know if you ever found an answer to your question as I'm attempting similar (not similar content, but similar experience for the private, invite-only podcast)

No unfortunately not. After researching quite extensively, I don't think it is possible. I think its not really something that Spotify is interested in, not sure whether they will add this in the future, I hope so, because it is a real drawback. And I'm not an expert on this, so I might be wrong, this is just want I think is the case. Cheers Frank
