Questions regarding quota extension rejection: Not analyze the Spotify Content for any purpose

Questions regarding quota extension rejection: Not analyze the Spotify Content for any purpose

Hi everyone,
We’re developing VUK, a platform that empowers fans to shape concerts by voting on event proposals from their favorite artists. We integrate with Spotify to store users’ top 50 artists in Airtable and notify them about tailored event proposals and voting opportunities.

Spotify rejected our API request with the following reason:
"You must not analyze the Spotify Content or the Spotify Service for any purpose, including without limitation, benchmarking, functionality, usage statistics, or user metrics."

Our intent is not to analyze Spotify Content for these purposes, but simply to use users' top artists to create event proposals and send relevant notifications.

Questions:

  1. Could storing top artists in Airtable for this purpose be considered "analyzing Spotify Content"?
  2. Is there a compliant way to use Spotify data for creating event proposals?
  3. Has anyone faced a similar issue and found a solution?
  4. Is there a way to contact someone at Spotify for guidance on this?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated—thank you!

Hi @Vuk1

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community, and welcome!

I understand the rejection text might be confusing.

The reason of the rejection is maybe cut short by accident, leaving out the most important reason. The full text from the Spotify Developer Policy is:

"Do not analyze the Spotify Content or the Spotify Service for any purpose, including without limitation, creating new or derived listenership metrics, benchmarking, functionality, usage statistics, user metrics, or building profiles of users, including for the purpose of targeting them with advertising or marketing."

I hope this clarifies things. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

Cheers!
