Hi all,
Until a few days ago we could search albums by record label with queries like 'barbie label:"Atlantic Records"'. However now searching by label only returns tracks & podcasts (in the Spotify app as well as from the API). Is this a bug or an intended and final change to the API? It was a feature I relied on a lot 😞
Thanks for your help!
It still works for 'united we are label:"revealed"'
Interesting! Looks like it's not working anymore when there are several words in the record label name. That looks even more like a bug then
More precisely the issue seems to relate to having several words in the label name. For example, take the album The Way Back by WYS & Sweet Medicine, that has label "Lofi Records" (according to the API). Searching for 'the way back label:"lofi"' returns correct results, but 'the way back label:"lofi records"' returns empty results.
A name as generic as "Lofi Records" shows how important it can be to have several words allowed (there are hundreds of labels with "lofi" in their name that are not Lofi Records).
Again, sounds like a bug right?
i have a same problems with api callbacks:
1. example: search [label:"cryo chamber"] return blank list of albums..
2. example: search [label:"ultimae"] return full list of albums as it should.
so it's because a "space" in label search not working anymore! i'm trying "%20" "-" and other symbols it's not working also.
Trying this in desktop app - and it's not working too! the search type with a space not show any albums. Without "space" return albums/artists and all what we need.
this is definitely a bug, because a month ago all this searches worked as it should.
I can confirm I can consistently replicate the same issue when searching label names that include spaces via the API and the desktop app. Labels without spaces in the name appear to be fine.
Additionally, I can no longer retrieve all search items using when making API calls using the 'offset' and 'next' parameters. Results are empty after the second batch of 50 when the total is more than 100. See https://community.spotify.com/t5/Spotify-for-Developers/v1-search-API-offset-parameter-issue/td-p/56...
i can confirm that the problem is solved.
it's now working as it should.
but it's now work pretty strange. i have a program which searches: [label:"R - Label Group"] (tryed also "R-Label Group" and "R Label Group") and it's aggregates all labels which have words "r*", "label", "group").
so.. we don't have direct search like full sentence and it's sad.
Is this problem really solved? I still see some weird results. Like searching for "label:King Records" returning results for "King" & "Records" label, which is a real pain since a lot of labels have "records" in their name.
It works. Use quotes when searching label names with spaces. For example label:"now again records"
