My Question or Issue

Since I changed my credit card in late 2021, every month I receive a mail telling me I have to update my payment informations, even if I have enough money on my account, the expiration date of my card is far and I have no problem with my bank.
I subscribed to spotify a long time ago and it is the first time I have to update multiple times the infos, one month after another. And if I don't, I loose the subscription (which sucks a little bit but it's not the end of the world (in fact it is but it's another topic for another day)).

Is someone else in the same case ?

Thank you in advance.

Hi @iregozen!

I personally am no expert on this, but if I'm not mistaken, there were recently new regulations in Europe regarding online payments, requiring a user authentication using MFA or biometrics to confirm the payment.

Spotify supports the new regulations, but it might be necessary to cancel your subscription, wait until you revert back to Free, then resubscribe again, making sure to go through the payment verification of your bank. Afterwards, the automatic renewal without your intervention should continue as it did before.

Would recommend giving it a try, even though it would mean you'd need to go back to Spotify Free for a short while. Don't worry, all your music and library will be unaffected. We'll be here if you need anything else.

Hi @vasil,

Thank you for your answer, I have waited a month before answering to see if the issue was over and unfortunately, I still have the issue, I have received an email asking me to update my payment infos.

Hi there @iregozen,

Thank you for your reply, patience and for the troubleshooting you've done so far.

Can you make sure that you've enabled payments for foreign, secure online, and recurring purchases. You can look for these settings in your bank’s mobile app.

Also, make sure your bank or payment provider has your correct details. They may need to verify your identity for security, e.g. with a password, PIN, fingerprint, or code sent to your device.

Let us know how it goes 🙂

Take care!
