Can’t purchase spotify premium

When i signed into my spotify on my phone and tried to upgrade to premium, there was a message at the top of the screen that says “spotify premium can’t be purchased with this app.” I uninstalled and reinstalled but with no luck. Help??

(my phone is my grandma’s old one and she might have had spotify last time, but i’m using a different apple id from her)
