My Question or Issue

My ex signed up for Spotify Premium and I agreed to pay for it, so they signed up with my debit card. Well, the "ex" part should make it clear why I no longer want to be charged for it. The problem is, I don't seem to have a way to stop. I called my bank, and if they stop the recurring payment, it will also stop my own recurring payments because they can simply block all recurring transactions from Spotify.

I obviously don't know my ex's account information, as it's tied to their Facebook. Unfortunately, things didn't really end in a way that opens the door for me reaching out and asking them to change the payment information, so that's not an option.

Do I have any options, other than paying for theirs forever or going through the headache of canceling my debit card and getting a new one? Does Spotify have the ability to search accounts by payment method and stop one of them?

Feel like I'm kind of SOL, so any information (even if it's not what I'm hoping for) is much appreciated.

Hey @MegaDroogie, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

Generally, the only option here is to reach out to your bank/financial institution, and they can change your debit card information entirely so that only you have access to the new card, and all of the payments would stop on his end.

I'll take a closer look and see what other options you have here - I'll reply back here as soon as I can.

Thanks for your patience!

Hey @MegaDroogie,

Thanks for your patience!

You can get in touch with Customer Support, will be able to terminate the subscription. Just make sure that you have the necessary details to prove that it's your bank account that's being charged.

If you're speaking in terms of your ex, you could get in touch with them as well and ask if they can either cancel or change their payment method. Although I can understand how this can feel awkward.

I gave you a few options - I hope this gets resolved for you.

Have a great day!

My debit card is connected to my now-ex friend's spotify account. A month amount of 59 rupees is autopaid from my card. Please help me smoothly remove my card details from her account
