No ads on free

I recently got Spotify and I haven't upgraded to premium or tried the free trial yet, but despite being on the free version I still have yet to receive an ad... I'm not complaining or anything, I'm glad I haven't had to deal with ads yet, but I'm really confused as to why this is happening.

Just to be on the safe side here, please visit your account overview page and check out the current subscription status of your account.

Furthermore, you can also use this help page to locate all of your Spotify accounts making sure you haven't created one by mistake to prevent any unexpected charges.

Same here.
The ad window shows up, but only for a second, so the screen sort of shakes. I'm sure that I'm not using any sort of free trial because they haven't been showing up for more than two weeks.
I use Spotify in a language not native to me, maybe that's the problem?
While writing this reply I got an ad, but it's back to shaking.

I'm 4 years later but the same is happening to me. I checked my account and my subscription is Spotify Free and I never had any ads whatsoever. My account is probably only two weeks old so maybe Spotify is ad-free for the first month? Anyway, very cool!

I am on Spotify free and have been for the past couple of months since I made the account sometime in January the next couple of months can't remember exactly when but I have never received a ad whatsoever I will admit though when I try to use Spotify from the web player on my phone or iPad the loop feature does not work and it can be buggy such as not playing the song I click on and just auto playing to the next song but for a person who also used Pandora Spotify is a much more open experience featuring less adds and more freedom to much of Pandora is locked behind a paywall and it forces you to watch adds to pick what you want to listen to where as Spotify does not and much less is locked behind a paywall creating a much nicer listening experience for the user also Spotify has all my fave song and Pandora does not so Spotify for life

I have had my account for a couple years now, and for the first year or so I got ads regularly, but one day I received no ads for a good hour. I thought it was kind of weird but didn't complain, and now after another year I haven't gotten a single ad since that day.

I have had Spotify for years now, and for the first few months, I had ads, but haven’t in a long time. I have no clue why, but I can’t complain.
