SAVED SONG LIMIT vs SAVED ALBUM LIMIT

Solved!

SAVED SONG LIMIT vs SAVED ALBUM LIMIT

I've been a premium member for a few years now and I am based in the UK. I mainly use the iPhone app but maybe 20% of the time I use the desktop program for windows.

I've long been struggling with the 10,000 song limit, deleted and juggling albums when I get near to it. With recent updates, it seems we are now able to save or 'like' an album without saving or 'liking' all the songs within it.

I just spent some time going through my 'Liked Songs' playlist and un-liking everything there. The playlist is now empty but all the albums that I had previously liked are still there in the albums tab.

MY QUESTION IS THIS:

Is there a limit to how many albums I can save? If I continue to only save albums without saving the songs within them, will I still hit some arbitrary limit (such as 10,000 albums) or would I still be stopped once the saved albums contain a combined total of 10,000 songs, despite the songs themselves not being saved?

Basically am I still capped at 10k songs if I save albums this way or have I finally found a workaround to this annoying problem? Appreciate any and all responses.

Hey @gaaavin97,

Our pleasure to help 🙂

To confirm, both albums and songs are considered 'items' in this case.

To further clarify, 'one' song is considered one item as much as 'one' album is.

This means you'll be able to save 10,000 items which can include as many albums and songs as you'd like as long as the total number of items is within the limit.

Hey @gaaavin97,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for posting about this here.

We can confirm that saving (liking) songs is a different thing than saving albums on Spotify.

You can check this Spotify answer for some useful info regarding the latest Your Library updates, which include this one.

This means that, no matter how many songs an album features, they simply won't add to the number of your Liked Songs and won't be factored in estimating the 10,000 items limit (unless you save them individually by clicking the “…” menu and click “Like all songs").

On the other hand, it's worth considering that the 10,000 limit is for the number of items (not only songs) you can save on Spotify and that an album counts as an item.

Hope you'll find this useful. We'll be here for anything else we can help with in the meantime!

Thanks for getting back to me! So just to confirm, I can save roughly 10,000 albums as long as I don't save the songs within them?

Good news! You can now save an unlimited number of songs and albums in your library. There is no more 10,000 limit for your library.
