Wont accept payment to update to student premium account

I am trying to reactivate my premium account after my payment method expired. I am a student and want to get the discount, but spotify keeps giving me the "Oops! Your payment method is having a bad day!" when I enter in my card details. My card is definiltey valid and works everywhere else. What is the problem??
