A song I put on a Playlist showed up on my "liked" list. These used to be separate lists. I have very different playlists, several with songs that I don't "like".

Hey there, welcome to the Spotify Community!

Spotify recently updated the way you like and add songs to playlists. The previous behaviour was like this: you can click the heart to save a song to the liked playlist.

Now, with the introduction of the plus icon, the process has changed slightly. Clicking the plus icon initially adds the song to your Liked Songs. To then add it to a specific playlist or remove it from Liked Songs, click the icon again.

To add a song directly to a playlist without affecting your Liked Songs use the 3 dots context menu and select Add to playlist.

In case you are not using the plus icon and it still adds the song to your Liked Songs, please try adding another song to see if the issue persists.

Let me know how it goes!
