Collaborative Playlist Not Syncing

Collaborative Playlist Not Syncing

Plan: Premium

Country: USA

Device: iPhone SE 3rd Gen, Dell Inspiron 16, iPhone 16 Pro

My Question or Issue:

I created a collaborative playlist for myself and 2 others. They were able to successfully join using the link. The problem is that the playlist doesn't seem to be syncing correctly. The first screenshot shows what I can see- 2 songs from me, 40 from Oli, 1 from Vitoria. The screenshot shows what I see both on mobile (iPhone SE 3d Gen) and on desktop (Dell Inspiron 16). When my sister (Oli) opens the playlist (iPhone 16 Pro), she can see 0 songs from me, 86 from herself, and the 1 from Vitoria.

I have already tried logging out and back in 2x on both my phone and desktop. The Spotify app is up to date on all devices.

What I can see, both on my iPhone and laptopWhat I can see, both on my iPhone and laptopWhat my sister (Oli) can see. As you can see, she cannot see the 2 songs I added to the playlist. And on my end, I only see 40 of the 86 she added. What my sister (Oli) can see. As you can see, she cannot see the 2 songs I added to the playlist. And on my end, I only see 40 of the 86 she added.

Hey @leonaryckman,

Thanks for reaching out. It's quite the odd issue you have there!

Could you let us know if the songs inside the playlist change as well? It's possible that that only the song count per collaborator might be affected here, showing more/ less songs from each one of you. In case the playlists themselves change as well though, this may really be a sync/ playlist-related issue as you've initially assumed.

We can check if this an error only on this playlist by creating a new one and inviting them both to it. See if the same behaviour is observable with both playlists and let us know. And, to continue the troubleshooting here - check if removing the cached data on all your apps would make a difference. To do so - follow the steps from this article.

Hope this helps! Keep us posted on how things go 🙌🏼

Hi Vasil, thanks for your suggestions.

It was reflected in the songs in the playlist as well. On my end it was missing the other 46 songs my sister added, and she couldn't see the 2 songs I added in the playlist.

Bizarrely, it seems to have fixed itself overnight. I can now see all 86 songs my sister added. So, I guess it's now resolved? We'll see what happens if either of us adds any more songs though.

Hey @leonaryckman,

Thank you for keeping in contact.

It's possible that the system might be taking longer to sync the songs for some reason, but we're glad to know that everything is working fine now. If this happens again in the future, you can give it a 24 hour chance to see if it syncs by itself.

In case you need anything else, remember that we're just a post away.

Cheers!
