Collaborative playlist

I've created a playlist for my birthday party and want my guests to be able to contribute to it.

The playlist is public on Spotify.  When I share the link to my event page on Facebook, it only takes my friends to the playlist but doesn't allow them to add anything.

I've tried Google and the fixes I've seen mentioned here, to no avail.

Anyone got any brilliant ideas?

Make sure you are sharing the "collaborator" link to the playlist and not the regular link. Once someone opens this link, it should add them to the playlist as a collaborator.

This support article will tell you how to copy the "collaborator" link:

The collaborator link expires after 7 days, so if someone is trying to join after the 7 days, you will need to copy and send them a new link.

I have the same issue and it seems when you "Invite Collaborators" it sends it as a "Share" not a Collaborative invite.

Thank you @MattSuda.  Do I need to invite collaborators individually? Because that's a real pain if I do!  When I tried sharing the link on my Facebook event page it only took people to the playlist and they weren't able to add.

You do not need to invite each person individually. The same link should work for everyone for up to 7 days before you need to share a new link.

Please make sure to follow the directions here in the support article on how to copy the Collaborator Link by clicking or tapping on "Invite collaborators" from the options menu:

The Collaborator Link needs to be copied from the Spotify desktop app or mobile app, the Web Player at open.spotify.com is not supported

However, I think I see what the problem is when sharing the link to Facebook. The same could happen when sharing it via other methods.

The best method would be to send them a text message to their phone with the link, and then when they tap on the link, the Spotify mobile app should open up right away and show the playlist and add them as a collaborator because it doesn't go to the Web Player first that way.

I just tested this out by copying the collaborator link and sharing it in a post on Facebook. When someone clicked on the link using Facebook.com in their web browser on their computer, it took them to the Spotify Web Player website at open.spotify.com with no options to be added to the playlist and they weren't able to add songs.

Unfortunately the Collab Playlist feature does not work in the Spotify Web Player using a web browser. People will need to have the full desktop app installed on their computer. After they have the full desktop app installed and are logged into it with their Spotify account, they should see the following popup when they click the link on Facebook.com in their web browser:

They will need to click on "Open in Spotify" in the popup (popup will look different depending if you use Windows or Mac)

Or they can copy the link you posted on Facebook and after they open up the Spotify desktop app, they can go to Search inside the app and paste the link in the search bar, and then hit the Enter key. That should take them to the collab playlist and add them as a collaborator.

If they are trying to open the link in the Facebook mobile app, they first need to make sure they have the Spotify mobile app downloaded and that they are logged into their Spotify account.

Then when they try to open the Collab Playlist link in the Facebook mobile app, Facebook will try to open the Collab Playlist link in the Facebook web browser inside the app. They will first have to login to their Spotify account inside the Spotify Web Player after this link opens in the Facebook web browser.

Then there should be an "Open App" button. After they tap on that, the Spotify mobile app should open and they should then be added as a collaborator. They can check by clicking the user profile picture area here and a popup will come up with a list of all the collaborators who can add songs.

Or they can copy the link you posted on Facebook in the mobile app and after they open up the Spotify mobile app, they can go to Search inside the app and paste the link in the search bar, and then hit the search button. That should take them to the collab playlist and add them as a collaborator.

I have created a collaborative playlist with my boyfriend. We have added lots of songs but the playlist just show the recently-added 50 songs, where are the songs we just added before?

What device are you using? Does it occur on another device or on the Web Player? Try logging out and signing back in to your account - this will force a resync that may help here.

You might also be looking at a Blend instead - it's a playlist which mixes of all participants' music tastes, updates frequently to stay fresh and can hold up to 50 songs. More info here.

My Question or Issue

I have two questions. I'm hoping someone who works for Spotify can give a definitive answer, as I've seen conflicting answers across the internet.

1. Can users invited to collaborate on a playlist delete tracks? I've seen "yes" and "no" from users here and other sources. I tested it: I created a playlist in one account and sent a collaboration invite to another account. Opened the invite on a different device, accepted the invite, and definitely COULD delete the original account's tracks. With music often being divisive - even among friends - I'm hoping this is just a bug and invited collaborators should not be able to delete other's tracks.

2. Spotify states collaborators can accept on the desktop app. This is not the case in my testing (same as above). The invite link takes me to the playlist, but no "accept" screen is shown.
