Deleting a collaborative playlist as a creator

If I create a collaborative playlist and delete it, as the creator, what shows up on the end for those I invited as collaborators? Will they still be able to see the playlist? Will they see that I have left the playlist? Thanks

Hey @Rmace,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

When you create a Collaborative playlist and delete it, the invited collaborators will keep seeing and using the playlist as usual. The only difference is that it won't be displayed in your library. Also, since you didn't leave the playlist (just deleted it) it will keep showing you in the collaborators list and as the Owner.

In case you don't want other users to keep using the playlists after you deleted it, we'd recommend first recovering it, opening it on your app, hitting/clicking the collaborators list, opening the context menu (3-dot menu) and selecting the options Remove as collaborator and Remove from playlist. This way, other users will lose access to it before you delete it.

I'm not seeing any options to leave as a creator?

It's a private playlist with another collaborator. 

Also does leaving the playlist as a creator means it'll purge the whole playlist for everyone instead of deleting it on one side or can collaborators can still just use the playlist on their own and whoever is left will become the owner?

Thanks for reaching out in this thread!

Since you're the owner of the playlist, you won't be able to leave it, nor will the playlist change ownership if you delete it.

In this case, we suggest that the collaborator first copies the playlist over to their own Spotify account before you remove it. This is to ensure that they have complete access and will now be the owner of the new list. They can do this by clicking the 3 dots for the playlist > Add to other playlist > New playlist.

Once it's done, you can remove the playlist from your account (if you'd like) by following the steps mentioned by @OscarDC earlier in the thread.

So just to confirm, if I as the owner/creator delete the playlist from my side, it will only delete it from my library but still list me as owner and the collaborator can still add and edit the playlist to their liking since I'm unable to leave the playlist?

Thank you for keeping in contact.

If you are the creator of the Collaborative playlist, after you delete it, it will disappear from your library, but you can keep accessing it if you have the link to it. You can also continue adding tracks, editing the playlist and changing permissions of other collaborators as you're still listed as the creator.
