Discover Weekly algorithm broken? Suggesting completely wrong music types

Discover Weekly algorithm broken? Suggesting completely wrong music types

For two weeks now, my Discover Weekly has been nothing but dance DJ tracks.

This is absolutely NOT the kind of music I listen to!

It differs both from my normal types of music and all previous Discover Weekly playlists that Spotify has compiled for me.

Please can you help, @Spotify?! Many thanks.

Hey there @chantoozie,

Thanks for reaching out on the Community!

We recommend that you make sure that you listen to more of your fave tracks with the ''Private session'' feature off, as this may affect the recommended tracks.

If that doesn't do it for you, we also suggest saving some new tracks in Your Library to help the algorithm. Liking new songs will help the algorithm recommend more songs that are similar to the ones you already like.

We hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi Elena - Thanks for getting back to me.

I went online and used Spotify help chat - and an advisor told me that my account had been hacked, and that was what affected my Discover Weekly choices.

This was despite me being alerted to a suspicious login some weeks ago, which caused me to change my password to secure my account. So I have secured my account again now.

I want to alert other Spotify users to what happened to me - ie if they too find that the algorithm seems to be 'wrong', it could be because others have logged into your account and are listening to different music (presumably as a private session).
