My Question or Issue

Hi there.

I just noticed that, if I switch to offline mode AFTER downloading a playlist, the local files in the playlist are not playable. Note that 1) the same (local!) files are playable when I'm online; 2) downloaded Spotify tracks are playable.

This happens on the Desktop app. I don't know exactly when the problem started, since it's been a while (months, at least) since the last time I went offline with the laptop.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Marco

Hey there @mbaroni,

Thanks for the post.

Could you try to run a clean reinstall of the app, following this guide? Also, check what happens when you change the default download location from the app settings in Spotify.

Keep us posted on how it goes.

Dear @Alex,

Thanks a lot for your reply!

Before I start the clean reinstall, can you kindly confirm that this will not lead to me losing my local files and playlists?

Marco

Hey there @mbaroni,

Thanks for the reply.

None of your playlists, albums and artists will be lost. You'd have to re-upload your local files afterwards, since the app will be uninstalled. Also, your downloads would be deleted as they are stored in the app data, which gets cleared with the clean reinstall.

Let us know how it goes.

Dear @Alex

Thanks for the reply. As uploading the local files is quite a complicated operation (I have lots of them), I think I prefer for now to live with the slight inconvenience of not being able to play them from the laptop when offline (I can still play them from my phone and ipad).

Thanks again!

Best,

Marco
