My Question or Issue
I am experiencing issues whereby songs become greyed out. I have searched the forums and recognise that this is a common issue, however none of the previous "solutions" seem relevant to my situation.
At the moment, Arcade Fire's catalogue is unavailable to me. Despite this, my housemate (who shares a Premium Duo subscription with myself) is able to access and play their entire catalogue. I can play other artists' songs fine at the moment, just nothing by Arcade Fire for the past three days.
This is not a network issue, as my housemate is also on the same mobile network as me and the issue persists when I am connected WiFi.
This issue occurred for me two weeks ago, when 'Bjork - Post Live' became unavailable for me, but again was available for my housemate. In that case, the situation appeared to resolve itself as when I checked a week later it was available again, but this is annoying when there is seemingly no reason for me not being able to access songs...
I am having this same exact issue, and I'm in the US!
If you find a solution, please let me know. It's driving me crazy not being able to listen to these songs when someone who lives in my house is able to just fine.
Hey folks,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.
This type of issue is usually related to some damaged cache stored from previous versions. We'd first recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app. This is often an overlooked step, but it can be helpful in getting rid of any corrupted files that might be causing issues.
If the issue persists, would you mind checking on a different device to see if it makes any difference?
Also, it would be great if you could include a screenshot where we can see the tracks grayed out, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to keep investigating this case.
We'll be on the lookout.
Hi Oscar, thanks for your response,
This isn't device related, as it is happening across all platforms - iphone, PC, Amazon Echo, Sky. I followed your instructions to do a clean reinstall in any case, however the issue remains.
Screenshots from iphone attached. Software version is 8.7.54.380
Hey @teespolyglot,
Could you and your housemate switch devices and take a look at how the accounts behave then?
We'd appreciate the input in order to help out more efficiently 🙂
Thanks!
P.S. We'd also like to check if maybe you've blocked Arcade Fire by mistake.
If that's the case, when you open the Arcade Fire artist page on the mobile app and click on the three dots, there will be a 'Allow to play this artist' button.
Hi Vasil,
Thanks for your reply. I've been on holiday for the past week, hence the late reply. This problem continued until today. I visited the artist page and all the songs were greyed out. I visited the "Liked songs" page and none of the songs were greyed out but i was still unable to play them. I then noticed the Follow button at the top (I have previously followed the artist, but the button said Follow instead of Followed) and when I clicked it to change it to Followed, all the songs became available again. I can't explain how this fixed it, but it did, and now I can play their entire catalogue again...
Hi lythwynn, see my post responding to Vasil and see if this fixes your issue too?
