My Question or Issue

I have been combing through this forum and several others trying to get my locally stored podcast playlist to sort properly when viewed on Spotify. The files (custom order) in a seemingly random order. I have a workaround where I have edited the title tags of the files to be "track number_title" but this makes my playlist very messy but allows me to sort by title to my desired order. I would like the default sorting order to be the correct order of the playlist as in my file structure. What data does Spotify read to create its default "custom order"? my playlist is over 200 files and manually sorting through and moving them would not be fun.

Up to this point, I have downloaded MP3Tag and done the following steps:

1. Ensured all file names were in the same format (didn't work)

2. Edited all files so that they are tagged with accurate track numbers (didn't work)

3. Removed the file dates as they were not all accurate (didn't work)

4. Changed the "title" tag on each file to include the track number (enable workaround above, but I would prefer not to need to include the track number in the title)

If anyone has any information for me, it would be greatly appreciated

Hey @crzwahlen,

Thanks for reaching out and reporting this! The custom order seems to not be functioning as intended for local files.
We've passed down the info backstage, however, we can't give you an exact timeframe in which it will be addressed in an update. Albeit not the most convenient, the renaming workaround seems to be an option for now. Alternatively you could also add specific local files to playlists and you'd be able to arrange those to your custom liking 🙂

Hope this helps! Keep your app updated and let us know in case any further questions arise.
