I want to add the most recent songs added to a playlist at the top.

I want to add the most recent songs added to a playlist at the top.

I want my playlist to play the most recently added songs at the top of the playlist. I have tried doing it on the iOS app and on Desktop and I can't seem to find it on either.

Hey there, welcome to the Spotify Community! 🎵

You can definitely sort your items in the playlist in this order. Please follow these steps for the same:

  • iOS: open a playlist -> swipe down on the playlist header -> click sort -> recently added.
  • Desktop: open the playlist and click the date added column or select the sort button next to the search icon.

I hope that helps. For more info, you can check out this article: Sort and Filter.

Hi,

I’ve been a Spotify user for over six years, having previously used Apple Music. When I switched, I used an app to transfer my playlists from Apple Music to Spotify.

However, I’ve noticed an issue that makes managing my playlists time-consuming. Whenever I add a new song to one of my playlists, it’s automatically placed at the bottom. To organize my playlists the way I prefer, I have to manually drag each new song to the top, which can take a few minutes.

Would it be possible to introduce a feature to address this? For example, a “move to top of playlist” button or an option to set newly added songs to appear at the top of playlists by default would be incredibly helpful.

Hi, thanks for sharing this! This has helped so much. If only you could still customise it and move songs around.

Hey @sislamhydar thanks for the response.

You can actually do that. Just open a playlist, select the custom option from sorting, and then select the edit option from the three-dot menu.

Then you can move items around in a custom order. On the desktop or web, you can simply drag things around.

I hope that helps. Let me know if you need help with anything else.
