You’re having a party at your place, but many people have song recommendations. I want my friends to add to my queue of songs freely without asking me on their devices in their own Spotify app. This idea would be the first of its kind and highly valuable. Thanks for your time.
Hey @jrobinson133,
Thanks for posting in the Community.
We've moved your idea to the Help boards, because we think we have the right solution for you.
We've recently made some changes to the invitations to collaborative playlists. Could you have a look at this page?
Before the parties you can share invitations to the playlist and during the party people can add songs to the playlist, while the playlist is playing.
Hope this helps,
Cheers!
Adding to queue is definitely different than a playlist, you could look into this further, its a great and much in demand idea
Hi @haswanth,
Thanks for the post.
We appreciate the suggestion to have an option to add music to someone else's queue. However there are no immediate plans to add such a feature, as far as we're aware.
Something similar is the Group Session, which allows you to play music and add songs to a play queue together with your friends. You can learn more about it here.
Cheers.
I'm pretty sure there was exactly such feature as a "beta" feature. You could scan a code which had similarities to the Spotify logo, which basically added you to the active device's queue.
I don't know why it was discontinued. I loved it, and "group sessions" definitely doesn't do the same thing, because it has you play the active device's sound on your device, too!
Hi @Kontrabastian!
Sounds like you're referring to the previous version of the Group Session feature, before it was reworked into the current one. There's an idea about bringing back the old functionality here, so feel free to check it out and show your support if you haven't already.
In the meantime, if you're using a bluetooth/wifi speaker, you can invite your friends to join a session together and control what plays on it by following the steps in this article.
Cheers!
Hi, I think that the "Group session" is perfect for party mode now. When you join a group session, you can freely add songs to a queue.
Only problem is that the current queue is deleted/replaced when you choose "Play" instead of "Add to queue". It can happen easily and carefully crafted party queue is lost.
Can you add something like permission limitation? The default behaviour should be that only adding to the queue is allowed and replacing the queue is allowed for selected users only, because it's quite rare, that you want to replace whole queue in party mode.
I attach screenshots from Android app where you can see what I mean. Sorry that they're in czech I believe you'll understand what I mean even so.
This would be awesome if y’all would make it work for CarPlay-I’d love to have my passengers DJ while I drive without having to give them my phone or vice versa
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
