Local MP3 is visible but won't play on mobile or web apps

Local MP3 is visible but won't play on mobile or web apps

Plan: Premium

Country: USA

Device: Samsung Galaxy S9, Macbook Pro 2017

Operating System: MacOS 10.14.6 (18G4032)

I am trying to load a local song from my desktop, such that I can play it on my phone and stream to other spotify playing from my phone. It plays fine on my desktop Spotify app, and shows up on in a playlist on my phone but it cannot be played, even after setting it to "download". I get the same behavior on the web client: it shows the track, but I cannot play it.

I am aware that certain file types cannot be played, so I took the step of exporting this file to WAV and re-encoding it to MP3 with iTunes. Here's the MP3 info from ffpmeg. Anyone have an idea about why this file is not able to load/play on the mobile Spotify app? I am wondering if it is too large/long. It's 41MB in total.

You need to sync your distant device to the device you want to listen your local songs from. To do so, make sure both devices are connected on the same network (same wi-fi for example), and disable any vpn or proxy you might have. Then click "download" on the distant device and it should download all the songs automatically, one by one 🙂

I did make sure to download the playlist on my phone as well, that didn't
seem to help... is there any way for me to get an error message to see why
it's not able to play the song?
