My Question or Issue

My local files are slowly going greyed out on my phone and only play if I click it. It plays fine on my pc. It gets skipped in my shuffle too. Ive done multiple clean reinstalls and re downloaded everything again and again. It works temporarily but it doesn't play again. Moving it out of my source folder on my pc and moving it back fixes it for a little bit but it does it again.  It seems to only happen to a select few songs I'd like a permenet solution for this. Thank you

Hey @Meems1,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Let's start with a clean reinstall of the app on your mobile device. Here is how to do it.

It's also important to try and replicate the issue with a different account on the mobile device and with the current account on a different mobile device.

Let us know how that went,

Cheers!

Hi Dian I've clean installed Spotify on both my PC and phone multiple times as I've said and it did not work. I have many friends who have local files on their Spotify and experience no issues. I've tried everything in the community that I came across and nothing seems to work permanently. If there is any permanent fix to this it would be helpful. Thank you.

Hey @Meems1,

Thanks for getting back to us!

The way local files work has changed recently. The synchronization between files from PC and your mobile devices over the network is no longer available. The audio files, that you want to play within the app, need to be physically present on your device's storage in order to be played by Spotify. You have to upload them and the easiest way to do that is by copying the files from your PC to your phone via USB 🙂

Hope this helps. Keep us posted if you have any questions.
