My Question or Issue

The local files I have saved won’t play on my phone.  This is very suddenly and they had all been working perfectly until yesterday.  They still play fine on my computer.  I’ve tried every guide on syncing the files again but nothing has helped.

Hey @Aomoli

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

Just to confirm, do the local files appear greyed-out in your playlist, or are they missing completely?

First up, it's well worth running a clean reinstall of the app on your devices to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble. This one is more thorough than the usual one.

Also, take a look at the steps and recommendations you'll find in this Spotify Answer about Local Files. If you've already checked those steps and the issue still persists, could you let us know what exactly you've tried from there?

Keep us posted on how it goes.

At first the files just disappeared when I clicked it, but I quickly found out that I had it set to hide unplayable songs, so now they just appear greyed out.  I tried deleting and reinstalling before, but I’ve never heard of a clean reinstall before.  What does it actually do?  I just want to make sure it won’t accidentally do something irreversible and ruin my account.

Hey @Aomoli,

Thanks for the question.

A clean reinstall just makes sure, that there is no residual Spotify data, that can interfere with the newly installed version. It does not affect your account in any way.

But make sure to also check the other recommendations regarding the local files on this page.

Keep us posted,

Cheers!
