Is there a way to browse an artist by album only-without the track list

"I'd like to look at Spotify's catalog by artist without having to see all the track info in the initial search. I like to listen to whole albums and would like to browse by cover or list of albums. Rhapsody works this way and I found it more convenient. I must be overlooking something. Artist:xxx gives the standart artist page with track detail Album:(artist name) seems to give only album covers where the artist's name is in the album title

Are you referring to the songs listed under the Popular tab at the top of the artist page? If so, this section cannot be removed at the moment I'm afraid.

As for browsing albums, you can find all albums by an artist in the Discography tab on their artist page. If you're using the desktop app or the Web Player, you can also switch between Grid view and List view from the buttons on the right:
