My Question or Issue

I need some help with managing my playlists. I used to have very few playlists, but over time, they have turned into macro playlists with a lot of songs that don't fit well anymore. I've created a new playlist to separate some of the songs from these macro playlists.

Now, I want to remove these newly added songs from the macro playlists, as to only have them in my new playlist. Is there a fast and efficient way to delete these songs from the macro playlists without doing it one by one? Any advice or methods would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey @MilesGloekler,

Welcome to the Spotify Community!

Here's something you can try out on the desktop app:

  1. Set the sort order of the playlist to Date added (so that the newest additions are shown on top) and click on the first song. Tip: you can reverse the sort order by selecting it again.
  2. Scroll down to the desired position, hold the Shift key on your keyboard, then click on the last song you'd like to remove. This will also select all songs in between.
  3. To delete the tracks press the Del/Backspace key or right-click on any of the songs >  Remove from this playlist.

You can also use the same method to add the selected tracks to the new playlist, if you haven't already.

In case you meant removing duplicate songs in the same playlist (i.e. they appear in the playlist more than once), you'll have to manually remove those, but I'd recommend setting the sort order to Title or Artist so you'd have an easier time locating them.

Hope this helps. Cheers 🤘

Hello,

Thanks for the suggestion. The thing is that the songs that have been separated to the new playlist were not added to the old playlist all at once, but at different intervals, so as far as I have understood with your answer, your solution could not work.

Please do not hesitate to correct me if I have misunderstood.

Thanks for clarifying @MilesGloekler 👍

I guess some songs will have to be removed one at a time, depending on when you added them, but I'm sure you can still utilize the above suggestion to some extent to move small batches of songs - it'll just take a bit longer to locate them. You can also try experimenting with other sorting options to see which one would make the process most efficient.
