Songs stop playing mid song

Songs stop playing mid song

I've looked through the community and it seems that Spotify simply do not care as no Spotify staff have resolved this issue.

I pay for Spotify Premium and quite honestly don't know why as this appears to be a common fault.

I'l play a playlist and a couple of minutes into a song it simply stops. I press play again and the song starts from the beginning.

I upgraded my phone as I thought that might be the issue but this issue happens on the new phone also and it doesn't matter whether I have ear buds plugged in or use the JBL speaker, I get the same issue.

Is anyone at Spotify willing to actually help?

Hi @MichaelWebMason,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please provide us the following:

  • When did this start happening?
  • Is the issue only on mobile but also on Desktop and in the webplayer too? If you haven't tested this, please do so.
  • Does this happen only when playing through Connect or when hooked up to earbuds or a speaker?
  • Screenshots or a video of the behaviour

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

Keep us posted.

It started happening months ago. I changed phones in the hope that it would stop but it continued.

AFAIK it only happens on mobile but as I do not have the time to test on desktop maybe it happens there too and NO I will not test as I am busy.

It happens with buds or on speaker

You want screenshots or video of random behaviour? Seriously? That's not going to happen

It's taken a while now to get a standard response so I'm not impressed and add to that the fact I have been paying for premium all this time.

Hey @MichaelWebMason,

Thanks for getting back to us. We'll do our best to help you out, however, it will be difficult to find a solution remotely without detailed info on the issue.

There can be more than one reason why the music would suddenly stop. If your Spotify app keeps pausing - we'd recommend that you check out this FAQ.

It's also worth mentioning that this could happen if you're using Discord. If that's the case - it's best to try the solution here

Lastly, it's a good idea to check this website as it seems to be a device issue.

As you can see, there are many different aspects to having the app function properly on your phone. If you’re still having issues after going through the recommended steps, we suggest reaching out to the device manufacturer for more troubleshooting tips.

Hope this helps. Take care 🙂

Just like earlier this year, my music stops after every track. I have to keep pressing play. It was fine yesterday and I haven't changed any settings. I am absolutely tired of this. Last time Spotify did nothing. This time, I take it they will do the same.

Anyone any ideas....Deezer is looking very attractive right now !....and why the **bleep** do I have to keep verifying myself on here every 60 seconds 🤷

My Question or Issue

I thought this too, that it was some random network problems. Now, spotify stops playing a 11 minute long song AT THE SAME SPOT EVERY TIME. I've rebooted the Mac OS X 10.15 tried it on PC Windows 10 as well as on Android. The thing is that the "vu staples" in green at the left keeps moving but no sound is heard. If I skip to the next songs it resurrects and starts playing alright again. The songs I have problems with are all longer compositions, and I have NO problem with dodgy network providers. One latest example is the song "Komeda" by Polish electronica artist Hania Rani. 11 minute long. Stops at the same spot like 8:11 each time, and I can't "rewind" or play it from beginning again. The next song yes, and the former song yes, but not that one. Close spotify and restart, yes it works again but only up to that point. I have no EQ or "stingy" settings on streaming rate. It has carried on for months now. All computers regardless of soundcard interface, and so on.

I have Premium

Hi @matsorbation,

Thanks for the reply.

Your issue seems to be more specific. Could you send us the URI of any affected tracks you have found? Also, please make some videos showcasing the behaviour on at least two different devices. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

With this info, we'll be able to gain a better understanding of what's happening here and investigate further.

Let us know how it goes.

No need to produce a video, it plays for like 08:11 minutes and stops at each time same stop. Many others does like this too. i have cleared cache, just logged on on one unit. However, just longer tunes though, like above 10 minutes.

Hi @MichaelWebMason,

Thanks for your prompt reply and the info provided.

I checked and had no issues listening to the whole track without interruptions. As you mentioned this happens in different devices, it might be account-related. To verify, log in to one of those devices with a different account and check if you can replicate the behavior. If you don't have another account, you could ask a relative or friend to log in with their account for a bit and try it out.

Keep us posted!

I guess that the last reply was aimed at me matsorbation and not MichaelWebMason. Maybe some cached information about being logged on still, on different devices or something like that. Will now try to log out from everything first. Will return.
