"Delete podcast" is missing from menu - how can I delete an entire podcast?

"Delete podcast" is missing from menu - how can I delete an entire podcast?

I've listen to all the episodes and the podcasts are no longer active. The "delete podcast" option doesn't appear in the drop-down menu under the 3 dots. I have 2 laptops, one older and one newer, and the delete option is missing from both. I have unfollowed and restarted both computers but the podcasts are still showing in my library. How can I deleted finished/inactive podcasts without deleteing from my laptop and reinstalling? I keep getting a "Something went wrong" when opening Spotify on the older laptop but then it seems to work fine. I've seem about clearing history - how is that done? Just trying to avoid having to delete and reinstall everything. Thanks!

Hey there,

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.

We can confirm that there's no option to delete a podcast from Your Library, what you can do is to Unfollow the podcast so it gets removed from Your Library. You mentioned that you already unfollowed the podcast, but it's still showing there. In this case, we suggest that you log out and then log back in to your account twice in a row. This will trigger a sync between your account and device.

If this doesn't do the trick, could you try unfollowing the podcast again from a different device such as a mobile? It's also worth trying while connected to a different network.

Keep us posted on how it goes.

Update on my lack of luck.... I logged out of Spotify on both of my laptops and my phone, all at the same time. Followed your suggestion on each device, starting with my phone.  The first time I tried on my phone - "delete podcast" was an option. I was jumping for joy! But when I went back to the laptops, everything was there. Then went back to my phone - nothing was deleted & the delete option had disappeared. Guess I'll work my way through all the podcasts that are not longer active and when done with those, make a list of the podcasts I still want, delete Spotify, reinstall, and start over. I haven't tried changing networks yet but this would be only done on my phone while at work. Old laptop never leaves the house, newer one rarely leaves. I still get the "something went wrong" when initally opening Spotify on the old laptop, so deleteing and reinstalling Spotify may not be the worst idea. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hey @Mystery-Fan,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop & all additional info here!

Could you try clearing stored cache from the app to see if you notice any difference? You can do so by following the steps under Manage memory usage on this page.

Shouldn't that do the trick, feel free to give a clean reinstall of the app a shot if you get the chance, as this usually solves common performance issues. Keep in mind that you're keeping your account exactly as it is when reinstalling the app, this includes saved content - such as playlists, Liked Songs, followed artists, etc. 🙂 If you're on Premium, you'll just need to redownload any tracks that you want to have available for offline listening.

Also, as you mention that you're also using an "old laptop", it's worth having a look at this page as well before reinstalling, just to ensure that it's compatible with the app.

However, if the podcasts still appear for you after trying the above steps, would you mind sending us a link to the podcast(s) you're experiencing issues with? You can copy the link by right-clicking on the podcast name > Share > Copy Show link. You can also include a photo showing how the podcast appears for you in the app, if possible, so that we can have a look as well.

Fingers crossed this works! Let us know how you get on.

Happy New Year, Maria!!

I tried everything suggested (my cache is cleared at least once a day, the memory managed was ok) & finally uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify. What a miracle! Seriously, not only were the unfollowed, no longer active podcasts removed completely but some apparently missing podcasts reappeared. I'm not scared to delete/restall if necessary again, since you explained I would not loose my library. This even worked on the old laptop, which is a HP Pavillion, 64-bit, running Windows 10 Pro installed 2020 during a major repair (new SS drive installed). The laptop itself is, I think, from 2017 or so.

Thanks again for your help - greatly appreciated.
