My Question or Issue

The 3x speed does not work for podcasts with video available, i.e. the Joe Rogan Experience. 2x Speed seems to be the max.

Hey @thomassw66,

Thanks for the post!

Run a clean reinstall of the app, following this guide to insure you're running the latest app version and that there is no corrupted app data which may be causing this.

If the issue persists after that, let us know if this is true only for the x3 speed or for the other options as well.

Cheers.

Noticed exactly the same thing today and searched google and found your post. All speeds above 2x just play at 2x. This does not happen with my Android 12 Pixel, it only occurs on my iOS 15.1 iPhone 12… Spotify, when will this bug be resolved?

Hi @LC40,

Thank you for sharing your post on the Community!

Since this is happening only on one device, we'd like to know if you've performed any troubleshooting steps. If you haven't, please check the steps shared by @Alex to run a clean reinstall.

Also, let us know if you've noticed if this happens with specific podcasts or with any of them. If it does happen only with a few of them, please share with us the URL of the shows so we can investigate.

Keep us posted.

Also having this problem on iOS 16.

Hey there @Smj2118

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

Just to confirm, have you tried performing a clean reinstall on your phone by following the steps @Alex sent previously?

If so and it still doesn't work, would you mind sending us a screen recording where we can see the issue happing? We'll take a closer look. You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

3x speed does not work on any Spotify video. It used to work at one point, but then changed one day and any speed above 2x, plays at 2x. Spotify audio pods will play above 2x fine. This seems intentional by Spotify.

Hey folks,

Thanks for your replies.

We've tested this on our end, but we were unable to reproduce the issue. Can you let us know if this happens with all podcasts or just specific ones (as @Alex requested above)? If the latter, please send us links to the ones where the issue occurs. Also, please share your device model, OS version and Spotify version.

Keep us posted.

I am having the same issue operating iOS 16.3.1 with app version 8.8.36. Any video podcast, whether playback is video or audio only, maxes out at 2x speed. Is there a way to disable video playback to try to work around the issue and listen at a speed greater than 2x? If I disable WiFi to stop video playback, the problem still persists as long as the podcast has video capability. The problem does not exist with any audio-only podcasts.

Thank you!

Hi there @gudin,

Thanks for the post.

I tried to reproduce this on my iPhone, but didn't get the same result with any Video Podcast. I'd suggest you do a clean reinstall of the Spotify app, following this guide. This will assure that the old app and the associated data are completely removed before reinstalling.

If the issue persists, please send us a link or URI to one podcast episode on which you can't go beyond x2 speed.

Keep us posted on how you get on.

My Question or Issue

There seems to be 2 types of podcasts: podcasts with video+audio and podcasts with audio only.

When I choose an audio only podcast (for example "The Tim Ferris Show"), and I click the speed icon, I can increase the speed up to 3.5x.

When I choose a podcast with video (for example "the drive - Peter Attia"), even if I don't watch the video and I've clicked "Switch to audio", when I click the speed icon, I can only increase the speed up to 2.0x.

Expected behavior: I can increase the speed up to 3.5x when in audio mode for video podcasts.

Thanks @Alex,
I've tried reinstalling the app following the guide, but the problem persists.

Here are 2 sample URIs where I cannot go above 2x:

Hey there @totoabdn

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.

We tried with the episodes you sent and we couldn't replicate this issue. In this case, would you mind asking a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your iPhone to see if they can replicate this behavior?

On another note, we'd recommend checking if the OS of your iPhone has any pending updates. Also, sending us the exact version of Spotify your iPhone's running would come in handy.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
