App pauses music and won’t let you change tracks

App pauses music and won’t let you change tracks

The app on iPadOS keeps playing a track till the end and then it pauses. At this point the app won’t let you pick another song, nor will it continue to the next song on a given playlist.

Hey there,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

In this case, if you haven't yet, we'd suggest you perform a clean reinstall of the app on your iPad to check if you notice any difference. We'd suggest you go to the Spotify app settings> Storage. There, remove all downloads and clear the cache. After that, delete the app from your device and restart the iPad. Then reinstall Spotify again.

If the above doesn't do the trick, would you mind sharing with us the make/model and OS of the affected device along with the Spotify version you're running there?

Lastly, would you mind sending us a video recording of this behavior? Please attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.

Hi!  I'm also having this same issue.  We can connect phones to our bluetooth device and have no issue, but using an iPad and it freezes and won't continue playing.  The iPad is a 5th generation that is up to date with 16.7 IOS.  The Spotify app has been updated to the most current version, deleted and reinstalled, logged into with a different account, and cleared the cache/downloads.  None of these things have corrected the problem.  As mentioned, phones connected to our bluetooth device have no issues; it only happens with the iPad.  We also have 2 iPads and both are having the same problem.

Hey @31rmnva7ipynved3hy3j,

Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.

Great initial troubleshooting! In this case, we'd like to gather some additional info. Would you mind sharing with us the exact Spotify version you're running on your iPads?

On another note, do you notice any difference if you switch the internet connection you're using? You can create a hotspot on your phone and connect to your iPads to see if you notice any changes. Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Would you mind sending us more details about the Bluetooth device you're using? Is it a smart speaker? If yes, please send us the make/model. Does this happen only when connecting the iPads to that Bluetooth device or does it happen when the playback comes directly from the iPads?
