Bizarre issue with two almost identical accounts being created upon the release of my song.

Bizarre issue with two almost identical accounts being created upon the release of my song.

So sorry if this is the wrong place for this! I am aware this forum is mostly for Spotify listeners than artists but I was wondering if anyone had any advice. I create music, particularly modern classical music. (This is not an ad obviously) Upon the release of one of my pieces, for some reason two identical accounts/profiles were “Linked” or credited for this song. When I tried to show my family and friends my piece, both almost identically named accounts appeared on Spotify search. Now, I do not know why this happened. I obviously only claimed one on Spotify for artists and the other is left abandoned. However now I wish to release more music but do not wish for this identical account to exist. After all, it becomes hard to promote myself and have half the potential listeners go onto an account with only one piece. Does anyone have any advice as to what to do? If I contact Spotify will they even do anything? Both accounts are literally my name (except one has my middle name???). I use distrokid and have tried finding out why two people (who are both me) are credited and to change it but to no avail.

My best guess is that because I compose classical music Spotify has decided that the performer and composer must be two different people. If that’s the case, every piece I upload will create another identical account for the composer. Do I just lie about the genre of my piece?

if anyone knows any distrokid fixes or where Spotify will do anything or anything of the sort (or a more appropriate place I can ask this question) I would be most grateful!

Thanks!
