Can't add friends on "find friends" page

Hi guys!
Brief description of the issue:
when I try to follow friends from my "find friends" list i add a few people, it shows them as added (little green check mark), I press done and return to my activity page and it says there is no activity bc I still am not following any friends. when I return to the "find friends" list it shows that indeed all the names are now unchecked and still available.

iPhone 4S iOS 9.1
Type of Spotify account you have (Free or Premium):
premium
The app version of Spotify you’re using:
4.4.0.1576

I've already tried reinstalling the Spotify app.
