Cannot download music to iPhone due to maximum number of devices

Cannot download music to iPhone due to maximum number of devices

I had five iOS devices with music downloaded.
Then initialized two iPhones to sell, without deleting downloaded music in Spotify.
Now I bought a new iPhone and tried to download music in Spotify, but I couldn’t due to maximum number of devices.
I assume those previous two iPhones are still holding information of downloaded music and counted, but I can’t demote music from those ones.

Hi there,

Thanks for the post.

You can try Logging out everywhere, and deleting the downloads and Spotify app on any other older phone you still have in your posession.

Hope this helps.

This does not work. I am unable to download songs on my iPhone for the same reason. I have uninstalled Spotify on my phone and logged out of all devices both manually and through the link you have put above but nothing has remedied this issue. Is there anything else we can do?

Hey @GingerNutCrunch,

Thanks for your reply here and welcome.

It might be worth it to go on the devices you've logged out to log in again. The cache in which downloads were stored on those devices might still be present. If they are mobile devices, you can go to settings (at the top-left of the screen, select your profile picture, and then settings)> Storage. Tap both Remove all downloads and Clear cache options to delete the downloaded content.

If the devices are laptops/computer, you can follow these steps to delete the downloads:

  1. Open the desktop app.
  2. Locate your library on the left bar. You'll see a green arrow next to or below the downloaded playlists.
  3. Open each downloaded playlist and tap the green arrow at the top to remove it from downloads.

If this doesn't do the trick, you can contact our Customer Support team, so they can help you with further assistance. You can find how to contact them here.

We hope you found this helpful. Let us know if you need anything else.
