Car icon in 7.7.0

Car icon in 7.7.0

My wife's iphone now shows a car icon. In the lower left corner that brings up a super useful big Button mode with voice over descriptions. But I don't have the icon in my app despite it being the same version. What gives?

Most likely your wife somehow made it on the Spotify drive beta maybe? Or this could be a slow rollout of the feature in an A/B test

What is it? How is it different? I can't find any info on it.

That's why I was asking - I can't find info either. It's a little car icon in the lower left of the 'now playing screen'. When you tap it, you get a big-button interface.

Also - we discovered whenever it connects to her car's bluetooth, it automatically switches to this big-button mode.

Oh boy. Yeah. Mine doesn't do that Bluetooth thing but it doesn't really have a purpose does it?

Actually yes - it's MUCH easier to use if you have the phone mounted to a clamp or grip for example. The artwork is bigger and the buttons are much bigger making them easier to hit in a moving car. A lot of the other stuff is removed from this interface too - no thumbs up/down, no playlist icon - literally just an artwork, pause, next, prev buttons. That's it.

If I get the chance I'll take a photo and post it.

So this is what it looks like. The first screen shows the car icon, the second one shows the big button mode. Also, in big button mode, it narrates the track names and menus - for example if you scroll to a new playlist, it speaks the name of the playlist so you don't need to try to read the screen.

That's awesome. But it doesn't name the song that's playing? Or does it?

It does yes. When the track changes it reads the track title out.

Can anyone confirm a wider rollout?

Thanks

S.

I have this too!

Mine still doesn't talk to me! Lol.

They must be doing an A/B test - I still don't have this despite two updates this week.

I have the icon and want to get rid of it. Music now stops every time I transition into or out of my vehicle and it didn't used to do that. I can't find anywhere to disable this feature.

I have it and don't like it, I dont drive and it isnt appealing, there should be the option to remove it.
