Hi
I am unable to play any music on my ipod touch (2010) for longer than a minute or so. Spotify stops and the ipod returns to its home screen.
I have tried an older version of spotify (supposedly suitable for ios 4) also, but am having the same issue with that as with the latest spotify app.
I am unable to upgrade from ios 4.2.1 in itunes as it says that my ipod is up to date.
Any thoughts on how I can resolve this?
Thanks
Ben
Solved! Go to Solution.
Thought i'd create an account to share my struggle, and possible solution, as well.
I'm using my iTouch for Spotify as the headphone jack on my phone is broken.
I've downloaded both versions of the app and both crash within a few minutes of a track playing.
However! I've noticed that if you play a track, then hide the player (using the button in the top righthand corner of the app) and leave it on the track listing page rather than the player itself the app won't crash or atleast it'll only rarely crash.
I'm using the Spotify iOS 4 App on a freshly wiped 2008 iPod Touch 2G with 4.2.1 installed on the device.
Hopefully this will help somebody else out there! 🙂
Yep, can confirm also this "solution" works.
Please resolve permanently Spotify!
me too - iPod touch 2nd gen, iOS 4.2.1, latest release of Spotify iOS4, fresh install, de-synced and re-synced and still crashes after about 1 minute of playing time. any assistance welcome.
Have you tried removing the spotify app and reinstalling it from the itunes store? It should automatically download the version for your ios 4.2.1.
Thanks for the reply - I have. I even tried flattening and reinstalling iOS as well as the app - still to no avail ....

Thanks Sammers - seems like a bit of a work-around but willing to give anything a go.
Will report back ...
Thanks for the replies, folks.
Sammers - that does appear to work. Thank you!
Hopefully Spotify will read this trail and look to rectify the situation asap (?). I don't call "work arounds" work arounds, I call them "end user burdens". Please sort it out!
Thanks
Ben

Are you guys all having this issue on iOS 4?

yes - me too ..
Unfortunately in that case, from experience, any kind of app update is highly unlikely since Spotify for iOS 4 is a legacy application.
Current Spotify application "support" is for iOS 6+ only sadly.

Thanks, Peter. The workaround previously mentioned seems to be working, so can live with it as it is.
Cheers
Ben
