Currently playing song not showing/syncing between iPhone and iMac

Currently playing song not showing/syncing between iPhone and iMac

Currently playing not showing/syncing between iPhone and iMac.

 

This is an ongoing issue. Currently playing song is seldom displayed/synced correctly. 

Keep quitting and restarting the iMac app, the song playing on my iPhone is not showing up.

Playing music now and the iMac app is not showing anything in the "now playing" window in the bottom left.

 

Why isn't this working????????

Hey @maxartist23! 

 

That's odd.

 

Is it possible that one device is currently set to offline mode?
And be sure that both devices are logged into the same account.

thanks for the reply. no everything is always online.

if i'm playing stuff on my iphone, my imac will just not show what's playing. the sync is not working.

sometimes have to restart the app twice to get it to sync.

really bad...

i have latest apps versions and latest apple OS on both iphone and imac.

Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.

 

In this case, we'd like to gather as many details as possible. So, since you mentioned this is happening on the desktop app, did you notice if this is happening on the web player as well? It'd be awesome if you could check.

 

On another note, just to confirm, did you try reinstalling the app on your computer to see if that makes any difference? If you haven't yet, you can follow the steps in this article to do it.

 

Lastly, would you mind letting us know the exact make/model and OS of your affected device along with the Spotify version you have running? Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.

I never use the web player - but yes it is showing the current song playing in the web player, but NOT in the desktop app.

 

Why isn't the desktop app working/syncing?

 

I am using latest MAC OS, on an iMac.

Thanks for getting back to us with the requested details.


The issue is most likely arising from some networking ports being blocked by one of your firewalls or anti-virus packages, so it'd be a good idea to disable any antivirus or ad-blocking software that might be affecting the app.


We'd also recommend to turn off your VPN (if you're using one) since this re-route network traffic and that might interfere with the app's performance on your device as well.
